Northern Rest, Relax & Makan

Last weekend me and my pal, Sheena went for a awesome relaxing trip up north, Penang.  This round, I was bold enough on online booking in at 1926 Heritage Hotel, Jalan Burma through AsiaRooms portal. I got a standard room for RM130.00nett and I was pretty impressed with the pleasant staff service, basic necessities, clean and cosy, free wi-fi + swimming pool.  They might need to improve on sound proofing their rooms and have Astro-lor.

We decided to have a relaxing trip and follow the wind of our mood on what activities as it was short one while we attend my client's wedding dinner in Butterworth, Keshu & Dev.

Penang Prawn Noodle / Hae Mee
Well, when it comes to Penang, it is all about food and nothing but the food.

Any simple coffee shop or hawker stall, serves palatable food and seriously caught dumbfounded with pricing.

One can never get a Char Koay Teow for RM3.50 or even Hae Mee for RM3.00 in this era and especially in Klang Valley.

Penang Char Koay Teow

I seriously can't imagine how inflated pricing are in the Klang Valley.  It is either stingy on the portion or contents or even both.

I not sure about you guys but I sometime feel being bully to pay for a sometime non-palatable dish and rub in more salt, paying 20% to 30% more for the same dish and portion.

Aiyohhhh....

If you are telling me that petrol or diesel price increases and it is the reason for increase in raw material, I think it is bullshit-lor. So what!, Penang people don't drive car-meh, halooo....

Dim Sum - one very evergreen food

Ok, enough of my ranting.. The next day on our way back, we make a Ipoh pit stop.  Heavenly another foodie heaven.

1st pit stop - Foh San Restaurant @ Jalan Leong Sin Nam.  Since we arrived there late lunch hour, a lot of the dim sum have sold out. This joint is one place to go in Ipoh.

Hopefully in our next trip up North again, we will savour the other dim sum that we miss this round and probably do the in-famous nasi ganja and yong tau fu and tau fu fah and my favorite No 1. kopi-ing.

Kaya Puff - yummy and still crispy after 4 days

2nd pit stop - Sin Eng Heong @ Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakri. A swear to die for place you must stop and buy their famous Kaya Puff, right out of the oven and trust me, people have to queue up and will leave the shop at least 1/2 dozen.

2.5 pit stop - Kopi-ing @ outlet No.1, Old Town Kopitiam. Ok-ok, they are not open on this particular sunday, so we went next door for my kopi-fix.  Simply worth it, smooth and refreshing white coffee + roti bakar, equally good as No.1 outlet...

Good buys - Pomelo
3rd pit stop-Xian Fatt Fruit Stall
@ Jalan 6, Ampang Baru.  This is the place to go for your pomelo. I can't help rubbing salt again, their pricing of 2 pomelo, you can only buy 1 pomelo in Klang Valley. Oklah, I be fair, factor in the transportation cost from Ipoh to KL.

The lady boss here is one pretty good business person. Straight away ask you want sweet or sweet sour type.

The moment I open my car door, the pomelo fragrant is in the air and yes we are surrounded by pomelo farm.  Free smell!!! Original perfume!!!...

Hmmm... next round I must take more pix of the surrounding and you will know what I'm talking about.

Well, that was one awesome short trip, a emotional battery re-charge and hell-YES, I'm looking forward for my next short trip. AWESOMmmmE......
